How Sportsaro works

Every member has a profile: who you are, the sport or sports you are in, your teams, and everything you have posted. An adult holds the account. A parent creates a managed profile for each child inside their own account, so siblings on different teams in different sports all sit under one login.

Under 13 there is no account at all. The child gets a managed profile; we collect nothing about them beyond what the parent enters.

A profile can be given a public page at sportsaro.com/u/your-handle — one link you can send to a college coach or a recruiter without them needing an account.

It is off until a parent turns it on, and for a minor it shows a first name and a last initial, never a full name. Photos appear only if a parent chooses them.

Every circle on Sportsaro carries a ring, and the ring says what that person is. The same four colors appear on the plate beside somebody's name on their board, on their seat in a stand, and on a team's roster — so once you have learned them you have learned the whole site.

The rings differ in thickness as well as color, on purpose. Around one man in twelve cannot separate green from gold reliably, and a color code that only works for some people is not a code.

The Lineup is the main feed: posts from people you follow, plus the wider platform when you are new and not following many people yet. Sort it by latest, most reacted, or most discussed.

Locker Rooms filter the same feed down to one sport, so a fastpitch parent can read fastpitch without wading through everything else.

A post is text, photos, or video. A Clip is a vertical highlight video. A Highlight is a photo or short video that disappears after 24 hours.

Every one of them is screened automatically before anyone sees it, and video carries the Sportsaro wordmark burned in at encoding, so a clip shared off the platform still says where it came from.

A team page holds the roster, the schedule, results, and the team's posts. Start one from Teams: name it, pick the sport, and you get a page and a seven-character invite code straight away. Players, parents, and staff join with that code.

The page changes to match the sport. A marching band gets Performances and Sections; a cheer squad gets Competitions and a routine score. Seventy-seven sports, each with a page built for how that activity actually works.

A shared team link shows the team and its schedule to anyone. Reading the posts means signing in — nobody browses children's photos without an account.

Above teams sit divisions, and above divisions sit leagues. A team joined to a division shows its age group, level and league on its own page, and the division keeps standings across the season.

A team has a roster and a schedule. A group is a conversation — a club, a set of parents, a coaching circle. Public groups anyone can join; private groups the owner approves.

What is posted in a group stays in the group. It never appears in the main feed.

Direct messages between members who are connected, one to one or as a group chat. Photos can be sent both ways.

Everything sent is screened automatically before it lands, and a report about a child goes to the front of the review queue.

Opportunities is the noticeboard: tryouts, showcases, camps, tournaments, team openings, players looking for a team, recruiting, scholarships, and work. Filter by kind, save the ones you want, and post your own.

Challenges are weekly, joinable, and shared with your circle.

Bats, gloves, helmets, cleats — list what your athlete has grown out of. Listing is free; when your item sells, Sportsaro's fee is 15% of the item price — never charged on shipping or tax — plus the actual card-processing cost of the sale.

A business gets its own page — a cover, a logo, and its story — reachable at its own address. A local batting cage, a screen printer, a bat company.

A business can also sponsor a team. Seventy per cent of what they pay goes to the team; we keep thirty, and both sides are told that up front.

Every photo, every direct message, every highlight, and frames sampled out of every video are screened on upload, before anyone sees them. Text runs against a tiered wordlist in English and Spanish. Anything flagged goes to a human review queue rather than being silently deleted, and a report about a minor jumps the queue.

We never collect device location — no GPS, no location tracking, no athletes near you. The only place information here is what a member types in themselves, like a team's town.
